Fraga

Fraga is a small town of 15,000 located in Huesca, Aragón. Proximity to the Catalonian border brings a unique culture to the area. Fraga has its own dialect called Fragatino, which is similar to Catalan. The size of the town makes for a close-knit community. While there are a handful of industries in the area, Fraga is nested within the valley of the River Cinca and surrounded by fertile ground used for growing fruit such as peaches and nectarines. Fruit farming attracts seasonal workers from various countries. The wide ethnic diversity brings unique challenges and opportunities in regards to ministry.

In Fraga, there is a Philadelphia church ministering to the gypsy population, as well as Catholic churches typical of the religious background of many Spaniards. When we arrived in Fraga, there were no evangelical churches reaching the Spanish people. Once we establish a church plant in Fraga, we will focus on expanding our ministry to the unreached towns in the area with multiple Discovery Bible Studies.

In Fall 2020, we began an online Bible study amidst the challenges of the pandemic. We added monthly home services in 2022, and opened a storefront for the congregation early in 2024. We are continuing with weekly services, Bible studies, and times of prayer. The next steps include building up internal church ministries, leadership, and relationships, as well as continuing to focus on outreach and evangelism within our personal circles. Please join us in praying for growth of the body of Christ here in Fraga, and that God is glorified in this ministry.
